Fees

A word on fees.

Every engagement is quoted in writing before work begins — a flat fee, a defined scope, and no surprises when the invoice arrives.

How it works

Quoted first, in writing, always.

We don't publish a price list and hold you to it sight unseen — and we don't keep you guessing, either.

After an introductory conversation, you receive a written engagement letter stating exactly what we will do and exactly what it will cost. The fee is flat wherever the work allows it, so a question asked mid-engagement never runs a meter. Year-end planning is part of a tax engagement, not billed alongside it.

The figures below are honest starting points — where fees actually begin, not teasers. Complexity moves a fee up from its starting point for things like multiple states, many rental properties, late or reconstructed records, and foreign reporting; your quote will say so plainly before you commit to anything.

Government filing fees and similar pass-through costs are billed at cost, never marked up.

Fee guide

Where fees begin.

From $290

Individual Returns

Federal and one state, prepared and e-filed. Most straightforward returns fall between $290 and $600. Rentals, K-1s, equity compensation, multi-state filings, and Schedule C activity begin around $600. Amended and prior-year returns quoted the same way.

From $1,250

Business Returns

S-corporations, partnerships, and C-corporations — 1120-S, 1065, and 1120 — including owner K-1s and the year-end planning conversation that should accompany them.

From $125 / month

Bookkeeping

Monthly reconciliation and clean, current books year-round. Scoped to transaction volume and accounts; quoted after a look at the actual books, not before.

From $125 / month

Payroll

Payroll processing, filings, and year-end forms for small teams, typically alongside a bookkeeping engagement.

$200 / hour

IRS & State Representation

Notices, audits, installment agreements, and offers in compromise. A single-notice response is often a flat fee beginning around $250 — many matters are smaller than they feel.

Complimentary · $50 · $200

Consultations

A 15-minute discovery call is always complimentary. A focused 15-minute consultation is $50; a 60-minute strategic session is $200, credited toward a future engagement. Book either here.

Starting out

The first years are not like the ones that follow.

New businesses are engaged at a reduced fee that steps back up to standard over their first years with the firm.

A business's opening years are genuinely harder than the ones that come after, and our fees recognize that. The schedule — what you pay in the first year, the second, and thereafter — is written into your engagement letter before you sign it, so you know the whole of it at the start and never have to ask. Places are limited each year. Mention it when you write to us.

Access

If cost is the obstacle.

A portion of the practice is reserved each year for those working through difficult seasons.

Reduced-fee engagements — and, in select cases, work taken on simply because it ought to be done — are part of how this practice is built. The work, the engagement letter, and the standard of care are identical; only the fee changes. If this is you, read about the Access commitment and say so when you write to us. It stays between us.

Fifteen minutes is usually enough to quote most engagements.

Schedule a complimentary discovery call → or send an inquiry, and you'll have a written quote shortly after — not a range, your number.
