Two different things live here, for two different jobs. Deduction checklists are for getting ready for tax time. Charts of accounts are for putting your books in order. Pick what you are trying to do and your kind of business, and you will get the one file you need.
A deduction checklist is for tax time. It asks what you paid for during the year, in plain questions, and tells you what counts. Use it once a year, whether or not you keep formal books.
A chart of accounts is for bookkeeping. It is the set of categories your software files every transaction into, all year. Use it when you are setting up QuickBooks or straightening out books that have drifted.
They are built to the same categories, so a business that uses both will find the year-end numbers already sorted the way the checklist asks for them.
Not seeing yours? The balance sheet and overhead are the same in all of them, so the nearest one is usually close enough — or ask us and we will put one together.
We offer discounted QuickBooks Online subscriptions for our clients — held through the firm’s accountant account, set up by us and connected to your books. There is no percentage on this site because Intuit changes its pricing; ask and we will tell you the current figure. About QuickBooks with us →
