Things we host, sponsor, or simply make room for.

An accounting office is a fixed point in a neighborhood: people come through it all year, in every season of their lives. This page is what we do with that, apart from tax work. None of it is a sales offer, and nobody will follow up with you unless you ask.

Classes

Small classes, taught plainly.

These are classes we host or sponsor in Vancouver, Washington, for people who would not otherwise get a patient hour with someone who knows the subject. Most are free. Where a class carries a small fee it says so, and there are always free seats for anyone who needs one. Nobody is asked why.

  • Computers and the internet, for anyone. Bring your own phone, tablet or laptop and learn on it, whatever your age or starting point: getting around the device, email, passwords, spotting scams, and the websites that matter most, such as Social Security, the IRS and the county. A small fee per session, with free seats for those who need one.
  • Starting a business. What to decide before you register anything, what the registrations are, what records to keep from the first day, and what the first year's taxes look like.
  • For farmers. Recordkeeping and taxes for small farms and the people who run them, in plain words.
  • Organizing a nonprofit. How a nonprofit is formed in Washington, what the IRS asks of it, and the bookkeeping that keeps it in good standing.
  • In Ukrainian and Russian. Two courses taught in the language: using a computer and the internet, and how taxes work in the United States, from a first pay stub to a filed return. Details on our Ukrainian and Russian pages.

Classes are taught by Max or by people he trusts. They are not sales presentations: nobody will be offered an engagement, handed a brochure, or added to a list.

Upcoming

Scheduled classes and events.

Nothing is scheduled at the moment. When a class has a date, it will be listed here with the time, the place, and how to reserve a seat.

If you would like to be told when a particular class is scheduled, email info@kondorfinancial.com with the class in the subject line, or ask at the front desk. We will tell you about that class and nothing else.

Local art

The work on our walls is by local artists.

Our lobby and interior walls carry rotating work by artists from Vancouver and the Portland area. The pieces change a few times a year. They are there because an office should be a pleasant place to sit, and because wall space in a professional building is something an artist can rarely get for free.

Some pieces are for sale. A small tag beside the work says so. If one catches your eye, ask at the front desk: we will put you in touch with the artist's representative, who handles the sale. We do not sell the artwork ourselves, set prices, or take part in the conversation beyond the introduction. The walls are a display, not a shop.

Artists and their representatives: the program is run through one agent who curates the roster. If you would like your work considered, write to info@kondorfinancial.com and we will pass your note along.

Local makers

People who make things nearby.

Furniture makers, woodworkers, ceramicists, framers, small shops. We keep a short list of local makers who have asked to be connected with the people who come through our office, and we share it when someone asks for it. It is not advertised and nobody on it pays to be there.

If you are looking for someone who makes a particular thing well, ask at the front desk. If you make things and would like to be on the list, write to info@kondorfinancial.com with a line about what you make and where people can see it.
